For three days, the CODE_n Social Media Team will give you an overview of the highlights of each festival day. Make sure you visit our blog to find out which sessions of our extensive conference program you shouldn’t miss, which renowned speakers you get to listen to and what workshop and side events are worth attending (although we’re sure all of them are 😉 )
The CODE_n main stage:

Afterwards, you might want to join the panel discussion on smart connected devices like NFC chip implants with Christopher Coenen, a political scientist and senior researcher at KIT-ITAS, blogger and programmer Enno Park, the Co-Founder of the Sweden-based biohacker network Bionyfiken Hannes Sjoblad, t3n editor in chief Stephan Dörner and multi-disciplinary artist Susanna Hertrich.
Also quite a highlight keynote (11.40am): Hyperloop CEO Dirk Ahlborn will let you know how he managed to crowdsource a massive project like the Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, a project on which a team of more than 480 experts around the globe are bringing disruptive innovation to the transportation industry.
We are rounding off the first festival day with an After Work event also happening on the main stage. Highlight of the evening will be a keynote speech by Winfried Kretschmann, Minister President of the state of Baden-Württemberg starting at 6:30 pm.

Digitization has arrived! Digital solutions have become integral parts of daily life in education, mobility, and other fields. Where is this evolution headed? How will we learn and travel in the future?
Learning with digital media revolutionizes the culture of learning
The implementation of digital media has evolved into a fixed feature of integrated educational concepts in schools, universities, working life, and leisure time. Now and in the future, practical lifelong learning is unthinkable without the use of digital media. Mobile education, i.e. learning and teaching via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, has been an observable trend for several years already. Thanks to Big Data and Learning Analytics, each learner receives an offer that’s individually tailored to suit that person’s specific needs. Learning based on the “watering-can principle” is obsolete. As increasingly many people make their know-how available, existing knowledge becomes more open and more freely accessible. Another important trend is game-based learning: the objective here is to playfully achieve one’s learning goals. This also involves developments in the field of 3D learning worlds and virtual reality. More…
The process of establishing a digital ecosystem in the mobility market has already started. Especially startups advance this progress through innovations.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise as an experienced collaborative partner will also take part to support as well as strengthen startups and shape the future of digital business together.
The mobility market is becoming a digital ecosystem. Until now the vehicle industry was dominated by a few influential manufacturers and their distributors. In the future it will become an ecosystem of micro services brokered via online platforms. To enter this digital business, manufacturers bet on own proprietary platforms as well as on the integration of cooperation partners.
It’s not sure who will become the platform dominator in future, but however, new ventures are an important driver for innovation and disruption in the mobility market. Uber and MyTaxi revolutionized the public transport market in just a few years. That’s why Hewlett Packard Enterprise , as an important IT partner of the transportation and logistics industry, decided to become the partner of the connected mobility cluster in this year’s Code_n new.New Festival. Why do Karlsruhe and the CODE_n new.NEW Festival match so perfectly? – Mainly, because they both share the same spirit of innovation, the dedication to the new and unknown and the committed willingness to connect, support and promote extraordinary masterminds. In both cases, pioneers are provided with adequate surrounding conditions – be it the CODE_n SPACES in Stuttgart or numerous research facilities, networking possibilities and business incubators in Karlsruhe. Therefore, scientists and founders are able to focus completely on their research and on the exchange of expertise with like-minded people.
In Karlsruhe the tradition of innovation reaches far back into the past. Remarkable and groundbreaking novelties such as the development of the first bicycle in 1871 and the first automobile in 1885 took place in the city by the Rhine.– Given the fact that Karlsruhe calls the largest IT faculty its own, houses 25 national and international research institutes, and forms the third largest IT cluster in Europe, the creation of this non-evaluative shortlist was a not to be underestimated challenge.
