Another important trend is game-based learning: the objective here is to playfully achieve one’s learning goals. Digitization of the travel experience

Ongoing urbanization poses new challenges for future mobility. Instead of individual transit modules, new solutions often focus on multimodal diversity, i.e. combining several modes of transportation to create a seamless travel chain that speedily and conveniently brings travellers from Point A to Point B. Digital services make such offers possible in public transit. Travellers can already access travel-related data in real-time at many locations around the globe. Information is available about connections, about connecting times, and increasingly more often also about alternative forms of transportation that can be used to augment traditional modes, e.g. car sharing, city bikes, connections for pedestrians, or – in the foreseeable future – autonomous vehicles. Passengers can pay for all services digitally, often on the same mobility portal, and they enjoy the added benefit of reduced prices. Digital services impact on the entire itinerary: from booking the ticket, through arrival at a railway station and the time spent there, continuing with the pathway to the correct connection, and culminating with the travel experience aboard the selected mode of transport and the final arrival at the desired destination.

For many years, the Karlsruhe trade fair has been the showplace of the most important international platforms for digital education and mobility. At this specialized fair and its accompanying conference, LEARNTEC and IT-TRANS present trailblazing technologies for learning with IT and for digital solutions in public transit. Both events are accordingly linked with CODE_n: IT-TRANS, for example, is directly linked to “Connected Mobility”, one of this year’s CODE_N CONTEST clusters. The fairs also actively promote young people and feature specific areas dedicated to startups. LEARNTEC and IT-TRANS also make the themes of digital education and mobility clearly visible far beyond Karlsruhe.
