Corporate Innovation | Boost how you innovate with CODE_n

Adopting the right approach to digital transformation creates new and exciting opportunities for companies and new ways to shape their own success. But every journey has challenges, especially at established corporations. Equally, even smaller initiatives like trying to promote more digital innovation or adopting new ways of thinking within an organization seem to create obstacles for corporations. Of course, companies have already unearthed a number of potential corporate innovation methods and have learned a lot. But the journey to become a digital pioneer not only involves managing the many different aspects of digital transformation, firms also need access to global networks – experts, experienced pioneers, people who know about tech-related topics, the broader challenges (e.g., engendering an effective culture of innovation), and specific innovation formats (e.g., startup co-creation models).

CODE_n has been a key player in the innovation scene for years and is now opening up its network and experience to established corporations and SMEs. Why? To help them to boost their innovation processes themselves; to allow them to become a digital pioneer under their own steam.

Partner interview: Uli Huener of EnBW on digitization, transformation & the energy transition

‘We are living the change – the course for change has been set. We’re fully aware of how important innovations are for our future’, as Uli Huener emphasises in our interview. Uli Huener is Head of Innovation Management at EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG. This year, EnBW is the new partner of CODE_n, the ecosystem designed to network digital pioneers.

Bild am anfangMr Huener, the energy industry in Germany faces major challenges in implementing the energy transition, not only technologically but also economically. What is your assessment of the pressure for change?

Uli Huener, EnBW: For the energy sector, the extent of anticipated change and need for transformation is unprecedented: there are social and fundamental market changes occurring simultaneously. This places strong pressure on the business models that have historically characterised the energy industry. In addition technology trends such as digitalization, increasing device connectivity / machine to machine communication put pressure on the existing utility business. Classic customer-supplier relationships are changing drastically, revolutionising the industry across the existing value chain. More…

Weisshaar and Kram designed the artistic concept with 12 meter-high terapixel displays everywhere

The time we spend each year at CeBIT is always a professional and personal highlight. As the CODE_n team descends on Hall 16, our thoughts are occupied by the artistic design, the people behind the startups, and the upcoming award show. We will never forget the moment when we walked into the hall for the first time – wow! 12 meter-high terapixel displays everywhere. At this point congratulations have to go to Weisshaar and Kram for their outstanding artistic concept. There could never have been a more appropriate concept to showcase the 50 most innovative startups from all over the world and their big data solutions.

We’re proud to say that 17,000 people visited the CODE_n hall this year. This excitement was also reflected by the press, venture capitalists, bloggers, and visitors in general. In total, there were 50 startups from 17 countries, creating a palpably entrepreneurial spirit. Everyone was just thrilled by the atmosphere. More…
